This happens more often that you might think.
Scenario 1. Job offer made and accepted, usually at the end of long, demanding process. Relief, expectation, some excitement, bit of trepidation. You have just told another employer you won’t be going ahead with that final interview. Without warning, job offer withdrawn.
Scenario 2. You came second. Sorry, you did very well but they preferred another candidate. Better fit/closer alignment with their vision for the business/just had the edge on the environmental piece. Or similar.
Two weeks, later. Hi! How are you? Look, it’s like this. About that role. I am sure you’ll understand I can’t go into details. Wondered if you were still interested?
