Being an apprentice

Latest session with the Buckinghamshire NHS Trust looked at apprenticeships. What does it mean to be an apprentice? It’s a traditional way of learning; an expectation you learn from a master practitioner.  An emphasis on starting at the beginning, learning by doing, watching, copying, trying out new skills, assessing, trying again, improving until that skill is mastered. We talked about Josiah Wedgewood reportedly smashing products he decided were sub-standard, leaving behind the message ‘this won’t do for Josiah Wedgwood. ‘     What’s the modern equivalent?
